These conclusions emphasise that sports infrastructure must be both sustainable and accessible, recognising that facilities play a key role in delivering sport and physical activity to all citizens. They highlight the dual challenge: reducing the environmental impact of infrastructure (construction, maintenance, operation) and ensuring barrier-free access for persons of all ages, abilities and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Member States are invited to integrate principles such as energy efficiency, circular economy, multi‐purpose design, active-mobility access (walking, cycling, public transport) and inclusive design into planning, construction and renovation of sport infrastructure.
The document also encourages collaboration among national, regional and local authorities, sport organisations and other stakeholders to promote best practices, monitor environmental and accessibility indicators, and align infrastructure policy with broader social, health and climate objectives.
